CLOROX CEO Awarded the Winthrop-Sears Medal

Linda Rendle, CEO of The Clorox Company, was awarded the 2020 Winthrop-Sears Medal by The Chemists' Club, which was announced by Dr. Roland Stefandl, president of The Chemists' Club. The Winthrop-Sears Medal, established in 1970, is awarded annually to an executive whose leadership has contributed to both the chemical industry and society.

Dr. Stefandl cited Clorox's achievement in rapidly responding to an unprecedented increase in demand for its disinfecting products caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To support the needs of its consumers and communities, the company ran key manufacturing plants 24/7, added 10 new external manufacturers, and focused on products that could be made and shipped faster. The company is now shipping 1.5 million disinfecting wipes packages to stores every day.

Rendle said, “I’m honored to receive this recognition on behalf of everyone at Clorox. In a year when people counted on our disinfecting products to support public health, our teammates around the world stepped up to live our values and took our role to heart in supporting our consumers and communities.”

In addition to supplying critically needed products, Clorox and its foundation provided more than $25 million in cash grants and product donations to support COVID-19 relief and community-building and pledged an additional $3 million toward racial justice initiatives.

Rendle will be presented the award at a virtual event on April 14, 2021 at 3PM EST where she will be joined by Karen S. Carter, Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Inclusion Officer for Dow, for a Q&A session discussing Clorox’s public health efforts and plans for the future.
