April 5, 2022 – The Chemists’ Club Kavaler Award 2022, sponsored by Piper Sandler, was awarded to Lori J. Ryerkerk, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Celanese Corporation, as voted on by her peers in the global chemical industry. This prestigious award honors the exceptional performance of innovators and disruptors of the status quo in the sector.

The 2022 Kavaler Award was presented to Lori Ryerkerk at a black tie dinner ceremony on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the historic Metropolitan Club of New York, in New York City.

        Lori J. Ryerkerk
Chairman, CEO & President
  Celanese Corporation
“It is my honor to be the recipient of the Kavaler Award and to be recognized by my peers in the global chemical industry. This truly represents the efforts of so many individuals at Celanese who share in this achievement with me,” said Lori Ryerkerk, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Celanese Corp. “The Kavaler Award is a symbol of the great contributions our industry can make to help improve the world and everyday life through our people, chemistry and innovation.”

“Her selection is extremely well deserved,” said Dr. Roland Stefandl, President of The Chemist’ Club. “Since becoming CEO of Celanese in May 2019 and Chairman in May 2020, Lori Ryerkerk has not only advanced the aggressive growth trajectory of the company, but has also further accelerated the huge strides that Celanese had made in improving diversity and inclusion,” noted by Telly Zachariades, Piper Sandler Chemicals team. “She has ingrained a culture of sustainability throughout the company. Celanese’s plans to replace traditional methanol feedstocks with recycled carbon dioxide are just one example of the importance she places on sustainability. Importantly, the examples she has set in her leadership have been hugely valuable for the public perception of the chemicals industry as a whole, at a point when many manufacturing sectors have fallen out of favor.”

Lori Ryerkerk joins an illustrious group: the most recent Kavaler honorees have been Amin Nasser, CEO of Saudi Aramco, Bob Patel, CEO of LyondellBasell, Kurt Bock, CEO of BASF, Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of INEOS, and Andrew Liveris, CEO of Dow Chemical.
